Parachute :: We enjoy getting the parachute out whenever we can in Yr R. It helps us to work as a team and to develop our knowledge of colours.

Parachute 2 :: We were listening and following instructions to see how high we could make the parahute go. We learnt about the type of material it was made from understanding it was light and waterproof.      Parachute 3 :: We all took a handle and worked together pulling the parachute tight and then allowing it to float. We really explored our scientific vocabularly today.      Parachute with the ball :: This was a skill we struggled with. Could we work together, listen to instructions from Mrs Luxford and Miss Adams and keep the ball moving around the parachute and not let it fall off! Did we manage it, yes of course we did, but Mrs Luxford said we need some more practice. There was lots of fun and laughter with happy smiling faces as we played and explored together.

Our Teacher - Mrs Luxford :: Mrs Luxford has been workng in Yr R for over 4 years and really enjoys introducing learners to their first experiences on their learning journey. She is also a school governor and enjoys runnning after school clubs such as sewing, knitting and needle craft. Always ready with a smile and a kind word for all the children she meets daily.      Reception class at 'plan, do and review' :: This table is working with construction. We enjoy exploring together, learning about the colours, shapes, and the things we can make. At the end of our session we return together as a whole class and use our speaking and listening skills, sharing our ideas, as well as thinking about what we could learn next! It is great fun learning together as you can see.      Sand play is always popular! :: We enjoy using the sand in lots of way to help us learn. This year we have used it to make shapes in maths, to practice our letter shapes and to make a map and plot a journey during multi-cultral week and then extended the ideas during our Arts week

Submarine Museum Visit display :: We all enjoyed our morning at the Museum and when we returned we were all able to draw pictures, recount verbally and in writing our visit. We all had a 'goody bag' to help us remember the visit.      Number lines :: We use this display in Yr R to help us learn the order of our numbers. We look at it and count together, it helps us rememeber the shape, we can check out our numbers whenever we need to.       Design Technology in Reception :: During the lead up to Christmas this year (2007), we used many discrete skills when creating our Moving Santas. We had to colour them in thinking about our pencil control and remaining in the lines. Next we carefully used scissors to practice our cutting skills, and followed the outline. Finally we got some help from Mrs Luxford, Miss Adams and Mrs Templeman to join the pieces together using split pins. We all learnt a lot about cutting and joining skills and were proud of what we had achieved. We have kept these in our folders and will reflect on them at the end of our year in reception and be able to see how our skills have developed.

Playing together :: Today Friday 16th May - we played together dressed in blue celebrating the second blue day and feeling excited about the FA CUP final.      Blue balloon display :: The children painted their own balloons - it makes the art area really come alive !      Trying a piece of fish ! :: Harry was very brave - he enjoyed the fish.
