School Council
We hold school council meetings weekly. The school council is made up of the whole school including all teaching and classroom support staff. We meet as whole council fortnightly and as class groups to work on issues fortnightly so that feedback can take place. This term we have been working on improving the playground and outside facilities. Many improvements have been suggested and discussed. Classes have brought their ideas to whole school council and then written letters asking for support.
We have recently decided on some playground games that the children proposed to be taught as workshops. First some ideas were suggested, then children signed up for the game they wanted to learn and staff chose which they were happy to teach. This gave everyone opportunities to make decisions and suggestions. The workshops were so successful that we intend to run them again moving children around to different games until they become experts in several games.
During the Autumn Term 2007 - we all decided on playground rules and thought about how to behave and play together well. We have shared the rules with the whole school and also thought about the consequences for anyone who cannot follow them.
Spring Term 2008, saw the school working together to improve and develop the atmosphere in the hall during lunch time. We thought about the setting ourselves some targets and rules to follwo weekly. Mrs Pearce typed them up for use and each week during the Spring Term we have been following and try to achieve a different one. So far we have thought about our table manners, using a knife and fork, wiping down our tables and also about talking quietly with our neighbour and table friends while we eat and share our lunch whether it be a packed lunch or hot school meal. We have really enjoyed working on the targets and all receive a certificate if we achieve them at the end of the week in celebration assembly!
