This Summer term in Year 2 we have been busy working on our SATs, as well as exploring the school theme of AIR.

We have been looking at windmills, creating our own in a 3D form, following some very difficult instructions- luckily we have already studied instructional texts so this helped us.

We have explored information about air to help us create our own books as well.
We have enjoyed finding out about AIR and all the ideas linked to it.
We have put up a display in our school hall which shows a huge hot air balloon with lots of us sitting in the basket below!

We have designed our own hot air balloons this was a long project but we kept going, applying a range of skills. One of these being in the design of the basket underneath. We thought about the most efficent type of net we could use, that would hold the most amount of people. We have a display in our classroom area showing how we learnt about this before we applied the same ideas to the hot air balloon.

Finally when all the ideas and bits were put together the balloons looked fantastic. They look even better hanging up in our library. Now whenever anyone goes in to share a book or find out some information they find themselves surrounded by a beautiful array of colour above their heads.
